Rajdeep Sardesai
Mr. Rajdeep Sardesai, 43 years, is the Editor-in-Chief of the IBN Network, which includes CNN IBN, IBN7 and IBN Lokmat. A commonwealth scholar, He graduated with a master's degree in law from the Oxford University. He has nearly 2 decades' journalistic experience during which he has covered several key events in contemporary Indian and world history. He currently hosts key shows on CNN IBN such as 'India at 9' and 'Weekend Edition with Rajdeep Sardesai' besides special interviews with leading personalities.
Mr. Sardesai has been with ibn18 Broadcast Ltd. since its inception in 2005. As the Editor-in-Chief of the network, he is exclusively responsible for setting the channels' editorial policy and overseeing the content of the channels. Prior to this, he was the Managing Editor of NDTV's news channels NDTV 24 x 7 and NDTV India where he was responsible for overseeing the news policy for both the channels. He has also worked with The Times of India for over 5 years.
He has won numerous awards including the Best News Anchor Awards at both the Indian Television Academy Awards (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008), and the IndianTelevision.

B. G. Verghese
B. G. Verghese has been with the Centre for Policy Research since 1986. He started his career in journalism with the Times of India and was later Editor of the Hindustan Times (1969-75) and Indian Express (1982-86). He was Information Adviser to the Prime Minister (1966-69), a Gandhi Peace Foundation Fellow for some years after the Emergency and Information Consultant to the Defence Minister for a short period during 2001. He was a recipient of the Magsaysay Award in 1975 and Assam's Sankaradeva Award for 2005. Verghese has served on a number of official and unofficial boards and committees and continues to be associated with a number of NGOs in the fields of media, education, the environment and community relations. He is chairman of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, Delhi, and a distinguished fellow of the Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad.
Verghese was a member of the Kargil Review Committee and co-author of the Kargil Review Committee Report tabled in Parliament chronicling the sequence of events leading up to the India-Pakistan confrontation and recommendations for the future. He was also a member of the Editors Guild of India Fact Finding Mission to Gujarat in April 2002.
With a keen and enduring interest in developmental reporting and the social transformation it can help bring about, Verghese has authored several books including the seminal Design For Tomorrow early in his career following an extensive tour of the country and its infrastructure projects, Waters of Hope, Harnessing the Eastern Himalayan Rivers, Winning the Future, India's Northeast Resurgent, and Reorienting India. His latest book, Rage, Reconciliation and Security (Penguin 2008) deals with managing India's diversities. Schooled at Doon School, Dehra Dun, India, Verghese went on to read Economics at St Stephen's College, Delhi University and Trinity College, Cambridge. Verghese was born in 1927.

Cherukuri Ramoji Rao better known as Ramoji Rao (born 16 November 1936), is an Indian businessman and media entrepreneur. H K Dua currently Editor-in-Chief of The Tribune, is one of the senior-most journalists of the country, having served as editor for over 14 years in four leading national dailies. He has been the Editor of the Hindustan Times, Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Express and Editorial Advisor of The Times of India. Mr Dua's journalistic career spans over four decades, his major areas of interest being political and international affairs. He has reported Parliament, political parties, two wars with Pakistan, several general elections etc.
He has also been commenting on national and international affairs in his column as well as on TV channels. Mr Dua has interviewed several distinguished world leaders. They include: Margaret Thatcher, China's Li Peng, Israel's Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and Iran's Rafsanjani, among several others. He has served as Press Advisor to two Prime Ministers and an Ambassador of India to Denmark, prior to his taking up his present assignment with the Tribune.
Mr Dua has several prestigious awards to his credit, apart from the Padma Bhushan which the President K.R. Narayanan conferred on him in 1998 for distinguished service to journalism. He has received the Durga Rattan award for Excellence in Journalism, the Freedom of Information Award, the G.K. Reddy Award and the B.D. Goenka Award. He was awarded honorary degree of D.Lit. by Kurukshetra University last year.
K N Harikumar
K N Harikumar is a writer and current affairs commentator, with special focus on Karnataka, India and South Asia. Other special interests include constitutional law of India, media freedom issues and the impact of the Web on newspapers and other mass media and publishing in general.
Born into a family of newspaper proprietors, he was associated for about 25 years with the top editorial and management of Deccan Herald, Prajavani, Sudha and Mayura newspapers and magazines. In August 2001, he resigned from the positions of editor, managing director and Chairman of The Printers (Mysore) Private Limited, the company that publishes of the earlier-mentioned publications.
He has been associated with various media organisations like the Press Trust of India as director and Chairman, Press Institute of India-Research Institute for Newspaper Development as trustee and Chairman, Indian Newspaper Society, Karnataka Press Academy as Chairman, among others. Vinod Mehta
Vinod Mehta is the editor-in-chief of Outlook Group (Outlook, Outlook Hindi, Outlook Money, Outlook Traveller, Outlook Business, Outlook Profit, Outlook Lounge, Marie Claire (India), People). The group is owned by Mumbai-based Rajan Raheja. Mehta was born in Rawalpindi, in Pakistan. His family fled to India when he was three.
He attended La Martinere School and the university in Lucknow. He has published three books, including a biography of Sanjay Gandhi. He took over as editor-in-chief of Debonair in 1974. Since then, he has founded and edited numerous publications. He is the founder-editor of India's first Sunday paper, The Sunday Observer, the founder editor of the now defunct Bombay daily.
The Independent, and the founder-editor of The Pioneer (Delhi edition). He was also editor of The Indian Post. Mehta wrote and presented "Letters from India" for the BBC. His first book, Bombay: A Private View, an account of life in Bombay, was self-published. Mehta lives in New Delhi. He is married to Sumita Sen, a journalist who has worked for The Pioneer and the Sunday Times of India.

Ajit Bhattacharjea began his journalistic career in 1946 as an apprentice sub-editor and reporter on the Hindustan Times. In 1948, he covered the Indo-Pakistan was in Kashmir. He joined The Statesmen, New Delhi, in 1951 and was appointed Special Representative and Parliamentary Correspondent. Ten years later, he returned to the Hindustan Times as its correspondent in Washington and the United Nation. He came back to Delhi as its Editor in 1967.

Mammen Mathew is postgraduate in History from St. Stephens College, Delhi. A journalist with The Times of India during 1966. Later joined Malayala Manorama as Special Correspondent in New Delhi specialising in Parliamentary reporting. Joined Lord Thomson's Western Mail, Cardiff as a reporter and moved on to The Sunday Times, London. Joined the Oklahoma Publishing Company in the US in 1969, first as a reporter for the Oklahoma City Times and later for The Daily Oklahoman. After studying the operations of Ashahi Shimbun and Manichi Shimbun in Japan he returned to India and took over as the Resident Editor of Malayala Manorama at Calicut in 1970.

He was honoured by the President of India with the National decoration 'PADMA SHRI', on January 26, 2005, for his contributions to the cause of journalism. Hari Jaisingh former Editor of The Tribune group of publications, has had a distinguished journalistic career spread over a period of 38 years. Mobashar Jawed (M.J.) Akbar (born 11 January 1951) is a leading Indian journalist and author. He is the Chairman of the fortnightly newsmagazine Covert (www.covert.co.
He has written several non-fiction books, including Byline (New Delhi: Chronicle Books, 2003), a biography of Jawaharlal Nehru titled Nehru. The Making of India, a book on Kashmir titled Kashmir: Behind the Vale, Riot After Riot and India: The Siege Within. He also authored The Shade of Swords, a cohesive history of jihad.
Akbar's recent published book is Blood Brothers, a skillfully crafted family saga covering three generations and packed with information of events in India and the world, particularly the changing Hindu-Muslim relations. His new book Blood Brothers has been translated into Italian as Fratelli di Sangue. It was released in Rome at the headquarters of Adnkronos on 15 January 2008. Akbar was also the editor-in-chief of The Deccan Chronicle, a Hyderabad-based news daily. He was removed from the post of editor-in-chief of The Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle on 1 March 2008 because of government pressure.

Barkha Dutt
Barkha Dutt born December 18, 1971, was educated in Delhi and in New York. She studied at Modern School, New Delhi, graduated from St. Stephen's College, Delhi studying English literature; received a master's in Mass Communications from Jamia Millia Islamia; and a master's in journalism from Columbia University, New York. She was one of the winners of the prestigious Inlaks Scholarship. Barkha has been recognized for her work by many international and local organizations.
She is the youngest journalist in India to be awarded the Padmashri, among the country's highest civilian honours. Dutt's reporting of the Kargil conflict in 1999, including an interview with Captain Vikram Batra, brought her to prominence in India. She has since covered conflicts in Kashmir, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq. As a journalist, Dutt began her career at NDTV, a TV production house which used to create news programmes and provide content to Star TV.
Later, NDTV created its own independent news and content channels, and Barkha Dutt rose to be its Managing Editor for English News.She is currently Group Editor-English News. Her work has won her over twenty international and national awards including the Padma Shri Award (Journalism)
Chandan Mitra
Chandan Mitra is editor and managing director of The Pioneer newspaper in Delhi and an independently elected (BJP-supported) Member of the Rajya Sabha or Upper House of the Indian Parliament. Mitra was educated at La Martiniere College, Kolkata and graduated in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University where he was in the same year asShashi Tharoor and Swapan Dasgupta, and was Tharoor's Chancellor when Tharoor was elected as President of the College Union. Mitra was a distinguished debater and a noted Marxist but later became a right wing supporter.
After graduating, Mitra did his MA and M.Phil in History at Delhi University also. He taught for a short while at Hansraj College. He then went to Magdalen College in Oxford University where he did his Doctorate in Modern Indian history. His doctoral thesis being on the Indian freedom movement in Eastern UP and Bihar. He started his career in journalism as an Assistant Editor with The Statesman in Kolkata before he moved to the Times of India in Delhi. Following this he joined The Sunday Observer and went on to become Editor of the paper which was funded by Reliance Industries.
After Reliance stopped funding, Mitra moved to the Hindustan Times as Executive Editor. However, after he was sidelined by V.N. Narayanan who took over as Editor, Mitra left to join The Pioneer and eventually bought control of the newspaper from the Thapar family after industrialist Gautam Thapar decided to cut his losses. In an interesting twist of fate, it was The Pioneer which published a damning article which exposed Narayanan as a plagiariser. [1] Mitra has somewhat turned around the paper and ventured into other areas, including a media school. He is often seen on CNN-IBN, an english news channel, where he usually presents a right wing viewpoint.
Coomi Kapoor
Coomi Kapoor is the resident editor at Indian Express and President of the Indian Women's Press Corps.She studied at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Bombay and went on to pursue a BSc from the Royal Institute of Science. She graduated in 1968 and later attained an MSc in Journalism from Boston University.
Coomi began her career as a reporter for Motherland, and later went on to be Chief Reporter and Special Correspondent at Indian Express. After working at India Today, Sunday Mail, Indian Post, and Illustrated Weekly, Coomi returned to Indian Express, Delhi in 1994 as the resident editor. She has also been a stringer for The Times, London and a columnist for the Star in Malaysia.
As one of Indias most respected editors, Coomi has been responsible for shaping contemporary journalism in India today contemporary journalism in India today.
Dileep Padgaonkar
Dileep Padgaonkar born on 1 May 1944 he graduated in political science from Fergusson College, Pune, obtained a diploma in direction and script-writing from the Institute of High Cinematographic Studies in France and received a doctoral degree in social sciences from the University of Paris(Sorbonne)

Dr. Padgaonkar has been a member of several national and international bodies, including the Indo-French Forum, the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library Society, the South Asia Free Media Association, the Prince Claus Fund of the Netherlands and the Observer Research Foundation. In April 2002 President Jacques Chirac awarded him the Legion d'Honneur, France's highest civilian distinction for his services to journalism.
GautamAdhikari
Prior to that, he was with State Bank of India in their International Banking Division. For a brief period he had worked for The Hindu as Special Correspondent before returning to the Times fold. Adhikari has over the years played a key role in benchmarking TOI's national and foreign news coverage with international standards. From 1987-88 he was Resident Fellow and Adjunct Lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
He spent a number of years as TOI's Washington Correspondent starting 1988. From 1992-94 he worked for the World Bank and was a visiting faculty at well-known universities like George Washington University and George Mason University. He returned to Delhi as Executive Editor of The Times of India in the mid-nineties. After a three-year stint, he went back to Washington in 1997, functioning as a World Bank Consultant and being part of various American think-tanks.
Inder Malhotra
Inder Malhotra One of the most respected journalists of India, Inder Malhotra has been a Syndicated Columnist since taking premature retirement as Editor of The Times of India, New Delhi (1978-86). Before that he worked for The Statesman for 15 years, first as the Political Correspondent and Chief of the Bureau and then as Deputy Editor.

Mrinal Pande
Mrinal Pande was born in Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh. She studied initially at Nainital and then completed her Master's degree from Allahabad University. Later on she studied English and Sanskrit literature, Ancient Indian. History, Archeology, Classical Music and the Visual Arts at the Corcoran in Washington DC.
Her first story was published in the Hindi weekly Dharmyug, at the age of 21, since then she has been consistently writing, apart from working in media, both television and press. She has spent several years on the National Commission for Self-Employed Women, inquiring into the conditions for rag-pickers, vegetable sellers and domestic help. Since April 2008 She is a member of Board of PTI on behalf of HTML.
N. RAVI
N. RAVI Editor of The Hindu, is a journalist of 36 years' standing. He holds a master's degree in economics and a degree in law and has received several academic awards from Madras University. He was a visiting fellow at the Harvard Law School in 2000 and a Shorenstein Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University in 2004. He had been editorial writer, Washington Correspondent and Deputy Editor before he became Editor in 1991.
His special areas of interest include government and constitutional issues, freedom of the press, economic policy and India-US relations. Among the professional awards he has received is the GK Reddy Memorial Award, and he was conferred the degree of doctor of letters by Sri Venkateswara University in 1997. He is currently the Chairman of the India Chapter of the International Press Institute, and a director of the Press Trust of India.
Prabhu Chawla
Prabhu Chawla is the Editor of India Today, India's leading weekly newsmagazine India Today Group. Born in 1946 in British India, he is one of India's better-known political journalists, known for his sharp political analysis and investigative reports. However, some argue that he built his career on the back of relationships, notably with his boss Aroon Purie. Today he is an authoritative voice in print and has a show on Aaj Tak called Seedhi Baat where he interviews prominent personalities. He was awarded Padma Bhushan by the Indian government in 2003.
A refugee from Pakistan, he arrived in Delhi in 1948. His college education was completed at the Deshbandhu College in Kalkaji. He began as a lecturer in Delhi University, then joined India Today, left for The Indian Express and then rejoined India Today first as editor of the Hindi edition and then the English one. He is married and has two sons.

Shekhar Gupta
Shekhar Gupta is the Editor-in-Chief of The Indian Express, a newspaper at the forefront of investigative and public-affairs journalism. He leads the nation's largest network of award-winning journalists whose work has effected change in several areas, including government policy and legislation.
Shekhar, known as a reporter's editor, has some of the significant newsbreaks in contemporary Indian journalism to his credit. At 26, as a reporter with The Indian Express, he exposed the horrific Nellie massacre in Assam that marked a watershed in the North-East's ethnic conflict.
As a reporter, and then an editor, with India Today, India's largest newsmagazine, he uncovered LTTE training camps in India, nailed the lie of official intelligence agencies in a spy scandal that falsely implicated scientists of the Indian Space Research Organisation. And seven years before 9/11, travelled across Afghanistan, Pakistan, Germany, the US and the UK, to report extensively on the threat from Islamic fundamentalism, including its links with Osama bin Laden.
His weekly column called National Interest, now in its ninth year, has become a touchstone for new ideas in politics, governance, society, business and sports. He also hosts an interview-based programme Walk the Talk on NDTV 24x7, India's most watched and respected English news channel. Sumit Chakravartty joined journalism in 1968 soon after his post-graduation the previous year. Worked in PATRIOT daily, New Delhi; was its Moscow correspondent (1974-78); worked in The Daily, Bombay (1983-86); joined MAINSTREAM Weekly, New Delhi, in 1987 and was its Associate Editor before becoming its Editor since 1992; covered Moradabad riots (1980), Bangladesh Liberation struggle (1971), was General Secretary and Treasurer of Editors Guild of India, is associated with the South Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA), is a member of South Asia Media Commission.
Y C Halan
Y C Halan a Senior Fulbright Fellow, with a doctorate from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, taught at Meerut College, Meerut, and Rajdhani College, University of Delhi before switching over to journalism.
His foray into journalism began in 1981 when he edited Career & Competition Times, Times of India publication, (now Education Times). Subsequently, he was Resident Editor (Delhi) of The Financial Express of the Indian Express Group. Dr. Halan was the Treasurer of Editors Guild of India and on the Governing Bodies of Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management at New Delhi and Bareilly. He is on the Governing bodies of Delhi Public Schools at Jamshedpur, Rewari, Nigashi and Vidhyanagar.
He was Director on the Board of the American Studies Research Center, Hyderabad and also on its Executive Committee.
