Hi: Sharing my experiences. Who is Who: I was claimed to be selected in who is who is registry by unidentified callers. They are calling from International numbers and had done sufficient ground work before starting tele-discussion. Such ground work mostly included reliance on Google and availability of online resources. Perhaps they were too overconfident to rely on redundant and outdated information which prompted me to be vigilant about Who is Who. After initial round of discussion - finally commercials talks began. $ 10000. Fees. I can't afford. Straight landing $ 5000. I can't afford it. Finally nose down $ 50 and even free for first year. When asked to signed letter and email from official email id - the phone was disconnected. When called back - the caller was furious and frustrated that he couldn't convince a guy for even $ 50. This is true story of such international fraud. Cambridge: Seems that they have access to Ministry of Corporate Affairs database of directors which is maintained by T company. The same modus operandi appeared to get some money from directors who want to be listed in Cambridge Directory. The call was received from number + 513. (Just three digit number) TRust Seal: Is your website trustworthy. Some B&D company started a overambitious project of certifying websites. Logo of that company will certify that your online business is certified. This will instill confidence of the customers in doing business with you. Cost 10 K per annum but can be negotiated till 6 K per annum. The issue is in India. Buidling a website costs less than 10 K or even 5 K. Will a SME sector afford to pay such trust seal which is more than cost of their web design cost. Although they have partnered with various industry associations in India, perhaps they themselves require to gather TRUST and transparency certification. Hope above examples helps.
