srini, you have done great service to the student community in india. wish every student and parent gets to read what you have written and done int he podcast. prof radhakrishnan should give interviews to toi, ht, et, and other leading publications so that the message gets across.
I am always there to help him and you.
since i come from the power sector let me share with you some of the industry's concerns. there is an acute shortage of mechanical and civil engineers in the coountry because most of the students have been lured by the glamour of it and telecom courses. now there is a surplus of such engineers which the industry cannot absorb. the demand for mechanical engineering and civil engineering seats has risen because the country is erecting so many projects and we need these engineers.
we need specialised piping engineers in the power sector , specialised engineers to handle electrical and electromechanical packages in the power sector. and the power companies cannot find them. believe it or not the ctc for such engineers with just three to four years experience is about rs 8 lakhs per annum.
best regards, tn ashok corporate advisor to power sector
