As per procedure after submitting our phote and ID proof documents for activation, it is our duty to confirm, whether this Number is allotted to allottee only or still continuing in the previous person(s) name, from the regional office of the concerned agency.(Ex: Airtel, Tata etc.,)

Don't you think telecom industry should take more steps to safeguard our identity? What if the proof i submitted elsewhere is used by the shop person to provide sim card for someone else?   I strongly feel that the service providers should make sim cards available only at their specific stores. Another option is to let customers buy sim cards from any retailer/dealer and submit documents only at the service provider's exclusive stores within 7 days of purchase.   Please share your views on this issue.   Regards Rashmi
