PR discussions: [prpoint] AP Model Public Relations Courses

Dear Members,

Kindly recall the discussions on Model Curriculum for Public Relations Courses in our group in June 2008.

To remind you, Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education has constituted an Expert Committee to revamp Journalism, Public Relations & Communication education for Andhra Pradesh. Three Committees were formed for PR, Journalism & Mass Communication separately. These Committees have recommended courses in tune with changed circumstances. At a State level Workshop held on 16th June 2008 eight Subject Committees were formed to suggest courses and prepare model syllabus.

Accordingly, the Subject Committees No. 2 & 4 have recommended the following PR courses with model syllabus.

1. BA (Masscom & PR) - 3 years course

2. MS (PR) - 2 years course

3. MCJ (PR) - 1 year course

Considering the recommendations of all the Subject Committees, the State Council of Higher Education have issued guidelines vide their letter dated 26th Feb 2009 to all the Universities in AP for implementation of model syllabus from 2009-10 onwards.

This is an achievement of PR fraternity in Hyderabad. Even a mighty River shall start as a trickle flow. A couple of years ago, Dr CV Narasimha Reddi called for revamping PR courses, in a 'round table on PR education' organised in Hyderabad. This is an achievement of the joint efforts of both Public Relations Voice and PRSI, Hyderabad chapter.

Members may consider to give a thought to this exercise in their respective State Councils, Universities, Institutions etc
