I'm afraid I need to intervene here, hold on Friends, all of us are putting in energy  to draft such big mails for a cause which no one is doubting and debating here at all ……the debate started for a strong view giving a feel that "IPL should not happen at all"………. And not for "delaying it" I guess we all want that two separate events should get appropriate importance as per the Priority and need of the Hour !!

All of us are in line with the thought that elections are definitely the top most priority right now and a date wise rescheduling would help both the important events to get their share of importance !!

It's very easy to write a common man story here but we all know in our hearts how much has been actually done for a common man by any authorities !! After paying hefty taxes even the basic necessities like proper infrastructure still remains a challenge in our country ……… No !! I'm blaming it all on US and not just our government. A common man is busy earning his  livelihood who would take the challenge of leaving everything and raising a voice for this.

Let me blame myself first here: I would love to do this moral cleaning and leave everything if government promises my salary each month in my bank account otherwise I'm sorry  won't be able to !!!!! this is the irony of a Common man's life. Yes , earning livelihood is the only hard fact………………… !! and let's face this gracefully !!

And dear friends coming back to IPL, before I end here: let me also tell you the fact that our Political Parties are more concerned than US to have IPL ,

You and Me are here ………….let's Wait and Watch…….!!

Have a Good Evening !!!

As an individual we need to look at priorities. We don't sit and watch movie when we have larger challenge or task to be accomplished at home. The same applies to the nation.

We also need to look at things from a common man's perspective and the gravity of the situation – I don't think entertainment would score over a democratic exercise especially pertaining to security.

Now assuming both take place simultaneously though the Govt. can certainly handle both and deploy manpower, we need to see how effective it would be since it would asking too much from the security forces. It would be too taxing on the Police, armed forces and the local administration to handle such a huge task. I don't think we deserve an entertainment by exerting so much pressure on the security forces. And if there is any unfortunate incident the common man would be the first to be affected because they are exposed to greater risk

Let us not challenge the priorities of the nation for the interest of a few agencies, associates, companies and individuals who have direct commercial benefits from this. And IPL is not going to change the economic scenario so drastically for us to take this risk.

Now why all this debate when an entertainment can wait – like we can always watch a movie next week or go for a holiday next month – why can't we wait for IPL till we are done with the elections.

Kind regards

Am too closely associated with IPL in their creative work functioning and this strong review of Mr. Srinivasan to me looks just the one side of the coin.

IPL was successful not just in changing many lives, infusing a fresh enthusiasm in our players but also it gave work to so many agencies, consultants and people associated with this country's one of the biggest events ever held.

From the agency business perspective if you ponder on it, in such difficult times of economic downturn, wherein the advertisers market has completely dried, at least IPl came to all as a reviving and good news because most of the big spending companies have cut down drastically their yearly advertising budgets only to keep safe some special allocations to be spent on advertising during IPL for their brand building exercises. Which is a good news.

It's one of the case that elections are coinciding with the IPL dates and being security of the nation too a priority, it's the time when our government needs to play a  vital role in providing a viable solution to it instead of treating these two events as options to each other in isolation.

Difficult situations requires handling and providing solutions in an appropriate way. Shying away from the problems is not always the right strategy. I hope our government would show some good management skills this time !!

Dear Mr Srinivasan,

Im saddened to see your view on this matter. As a representative of one of IPL Franchises, I think its an incorrect position to take.

dear friends

It is a sad event that Srilankan cricketers were targetted by Pak terrorists.  When India is going to face the world's biggest democratic exercise, i.e. General Elections during April and May, IPL is not willing to postpone the matches, inspite of the request from the Union Home Minister.

Already, more than 21 lakhs of security forces like police, para military forces are going to be drawn by Election Commission.  This is in addition to the security arrangements involving many lakhs of police forces during the Election Campaign, throughout India.

In addition, the Government has the responsibility of maintaining the law and order and securing the borders during this strainful days.

I donot know why IPL is particular about going ahead with the matches.  If they plan the matches, then the Governments have to provide more protection to the matches also, deploying heavy security personnel.

In these days when India is facing acute risk of terrorism, a common man does not understand why IPL should be greedy to earn crores and crores   of money, putting other billion innocent citizens to risk.  Every body knows, that General Elections would be held in April and May.  IPL should have planned well in advance, avoiding these two months.

There is a limit for greediness.  Our enthusiam to watch the cricket, should not put the entire Nation to risk.   Nation's security is supreme than few billionaires earning further billions.
