[prpoint] RE: Political communication - Election campaign through social media

dear sir:

Social media has very powerful effects. It can make Davids and down the Goliaths. Political parties riding the new technology wave is welcome. They are adapting to new India or the Youngistan.

Using Google Adwords or affiliate advertising on relevant sites: I have my own doubts about its effectiveness in election / political domain. These tactics are considered as promotional one and for one time benefit. A serious user may not be moved by branding alone or such one time persuation play. Youngistan disliked political parties this fact can not be ignored for planning any such PPC / CPC campaigns. (Pay per click, cost per click / conversion)

Where is the commitment: BJP ironman (LKA) or other parties might have announced their online presence. How does it affect if there is no-one to respond to queries. It is not expected that each query (general / citizen query) be responded by LKA or otherwise, but he can surely appoint / place managers / executives to respond to online queries. This doesn't mean that all queries be responded. To conclude: They missed the bus of what we normally jargon as 360 degree communication.

Just a example. One ex-commissioner from Pune who has political aspirations also used online presence as propaganda tactic. He claims to have fought corruption and owns 22 crore worth home at Delhi. (He declared). When a query was posted to him to post corruption case study on his portal, it derived no response.

Larger picture: Sir or Madam and other respected members, How these paid advertisements will benefit the politicos will be decided by Pandora Box but how does they and their tactics matter to aam aadmi. With due respect i wish to appeal to all learned members of PR Point forum, Rural is not going to benefit. As per APJ Kalam Sir, Rural is Mural but thats just in words and not in deeds for politicos.

That reminds me, I will be traveling to Nagpur to fight a RTI second appeal case on 21st April (abandoning my work in hand) to get the water time table from local authority.
Mr. Srinivasan: You will be surprised to note that water is seen in taps once in 5 days and quantification is 20 litres per 5 days which works out to be 4 litres a day.

How much pain and labor Rural India is doing for drinking water? The moment politicos understand this pertinent questions, they will get more mileage than online advertising.

Jai Hind.

dear friends

As expected earlier during the discussions in this group, now the major
political parties have started using the social media blogs and podcasts for
their campaign.

1. I find both Congress and BJP have their websites updated with the latest
developments.
