Yes the story has been dealt with absurdly by the Indian channels. You had CNN-IBN running a footage of Airbus A330 and explaining the technical details of how a crash cannot happen. On the other hand channels like CNN, BBC went on focusing the weather related details based on the theory that lightening must have struck and the dense cloud formation in the flight path.
But you had to appreciate the French airport authorities and politicians on their reaction to the crash. All the passenger's relatives and friends were taken to a room which had a doctor and psychologist to handle the trauma afflicted people. There was no chaos at the airport, people were mourning and walking past silently. There was no crucifixing of pilots or aircraft manufacturer nor any pointless debates in prominent channels. The politicians too behaved responsibly and no blame game at any quarter.
God forbid, imagine a scenario in any of the Indian airports if this had happended. Utter chaos, Blame game, politicians alleging scam, etc would have been the order of the day.
Now cut to a near air disaster at Mumbai airport as a result of the near-miss incident. The coverage started with a graphical display of what would have happened. We had debates, a committtee set up to probe the incident, etc. And then life goes on and going on and will go on.
All of us including the media should know how to handle a disaster, attend to the trauma affected people. Our media has still to be mature enough to handle such cases and not sensationalise it by cheap headlines or visuals.

Dear All,
While the Air crash deeply saddens me, it is surely a relief to see channels like NDTV reporting the story with zero sensationalism. It seems like the channel has learnt from the immature and sensationalised reporting of 26/11.
However, channels like India TV still need to wake up.....

Hi,
Generally news channels focus on stories which give them 'exclusivity' in positioning their channel. Else the news should give them political munch and provide opportunity for debate and criticism. Probably the absence of both in this case has contributed to zero sensationalism.
