[prpoint] Homage to YSR

AP's CM, Dr YSR is no more.

The American Built, Bell Helicopter with YSR on board crash-landed on Rudra Kota, one of the peaks in Nallamala Range, near Velugode between Atmakur and Bandi Atmakur, approximately 90 KMs west of Kurnool Town. Sources feared that due to bad weather the flight path of the helicopter would have changed from north-south direction to eastwards, crashed against the hill and caught fire killing the CM, his Principal Secretary, his Chief Security Officer and both the Pilots. The Emergency Landing Transmitter, a communication device to locate the craft, set along with SOS mechanism, did not work.  This and the bad weather prevented spotting the debris of the chopper exactly 24 hours after the accident took place. The first message about missing of CM came in at 9.50 am on 2nd Sept while he was going to Chittoor District to conduct Racha Banda (face to face with villagers) and the first message of mangled Chopper found on the hillock also came in at 9.50 am the next day i.e. on 3rd Sept.

Nallamalas (Black hills), a section of Eastern Ghats stretching into 5 districts, with an extent of approx 12000 square kilometers of forested terrain runs parallel to Coramandel coast.  The range with the abode of Lord Shiva's Srisailam on the north merges with the abode of Lord Balaji's Tirumalas on the south with Kadapa (foothill), the birthplace of YSR in between. Number of old temples of Lord Shiva dot the entire Nallamalas. This range gives birth to a river namely Gundla Kamma, while giving passage to river Penna and the mighty Krishna.

NRSA, Google Earth, 2 Copters from Krishna Patnam Port Trust, 9 Copters from Army and Navy, 2 Sukhoi War Planes, about 10,000 men from Army, Navy, Air force, para military, Police, Greyhounds, Octopus and officials from Revenue, Forest and Excise and also the people in the surrounding villages and the original inhabitants of the forest, the Chenchus - all were pressed into Search and Rescue operations. This is described as the first ever massive search conducted in India.

YSR, Dr Yeduguri Sandinti Raja Sekhara Reddy (1949-2009) was born to the converted Christian couple, Raja Reddy & Vijaya Lakshmi in Balapanur Village, Simhadripuram Mandal, Kadapa District.  He did his secondary schooling in Pulivendula, pre-university course atVijayawada, medicine at Gulbarga and house surgeon at Tirupati.

Starting his political life in 1978 he was MLA for 6 times MLA, MP for 4 times, PCC president twice and leader of the opposition twice. His 31 years of political career seasoned him to be a constructive critic and an able administrator. He was sworn in as Chief Minister of AP twice - on 14th May 2004 and again on 20th May 2009.

He believed that irrigation projects are the modern temples of worship as believed by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.  Thus, his 'jalayagnam' could complete 17 irrigation projects in his 1st tenure of 5 years.  His vision is to add 1 crore acres more with the new irrigation projects to strengthen the Farmer. He thus reminds Lal Bahadur Sasthry's Jai Kissan. His padayathra (mass contact cum communication program) for 1600 KMs in 5 districts in April, May, June of 2003 in the scorching sun, made him the true follower of Mahatma Gandhi and became the Chief Minister.

His populous, yet progressive schemes are Jalayagnam (irrigation projects), Indira Houses (for weaker sections), Arogya Sree (free medical services), Pavala Vaddi (loan for 25 paise), Rice @ Rs.2/- per KG, Palle bata (visiting villages), Nagara bata (visiting urban areas), Racha banda (face to face, attending local problems). Fortunately there are timely and widespread rains in AP ever since he became the CM.  This prompted him claiming that "Varuna", the lord of rains is in his party.

Gods must be really CRAZY
