Dear all,
I would like to share my experience of being a student and now in to the dev commn industry for two years. I am working in an international not for profit organisation in Delhi for last one and a half year. The relationship between me and my immediate boss and the team has always been smooth.I always copy my mails to all the members in the team, which my boss also does, and this increases the transperency and trust.
Actually I was lucky enough to have "Prime Point" Srinivasan sir as our visiting faculty, who handled Corporate Communication for us. He actually went beyond the sylllabus and was sharinga us the communication skills and even small things like net-culture (Netiquette) and the user friendly stuff. And always he expects professionalism and discipline - which actually attributes to at least 25% of sucess. I had opportunities to work very closely with him on different projects and his expectations had made me to follow things in my routine. (even though he doesnt agree that I follow :( )
So I feel that media institutes should also focus on business communication skills - this should be made part of the syllabus and guest lectures, visiting faculties from the industry should be invited to share their experiences. This would definitely change the situation and also help both the youngsters and the industry.
Also, my immediate boss, has corrected my style of writing mails, to be more polite and diplomatic - So I request the seniors to help us and try to correct our the mistakes, and encourage them not repeat it again.
Best regards,
S'N
