[prpoint] State Information Ministers will Meet tomorow

 

The Biennial Conference of State & Union Territories Ministers of Information & Broadcasting (SIMCON) is scheduled to be held in New Delhi on December 5, 2009. The Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting Smt. Ambika Soni will chair the XXVIIth SIMCON.

On the agenda are issues related to Amendments proposed in the Press & Registration of Books Act – 1867; Measures to combat piracy of Films; Entertainment Tax Rates; Broadcasting Services Bill and Digitalisation of Cable Sector – Way Forward. Various proposals made by the State Governments and UT Administrations on issues related to Information & Broadcasting would also be taken up for wider deliberations.

Concerned Ministers/Representatives of States and UTs as also industry representatives and media experts would be attending the day long Conference.

The XXVIth SIMCON was held in September 2007.
