Mr. Ashok with all respect, according to me, is generalizing the aspect of "attitudinal deficiencies" in the youth of the country.
Yes, there is a generation gap and that some of the youngsters of today have an issue with attitude. However, why are we forgeting to realize that the "everything on a platter" is only for the 2% of the youth in our country. A lot of youngsters, i know, who have been studying in colleges have been doing their own stuffs and taking charge of their lives. For instance, in a city like Bangalore there are youngsters studying in colleges who own their own event management companies. And who do they hire for the BTL promotions? Ofcourse their friends and classmates who are of the same age. The youngsters today are a proud lot and want to earn for themselves which many people (maybe its again the genetrational perspective) see as arrogant and cocky. Though I agree that there are a few who are!
And wrt the mms, sms and foreign culture, what is their fault that they were born post liberalization? They are amazingly quick in tapping technology and making the best use of the same.
I have been following this link quite closely and this is the first time that I am commenting. I do not take the liberty to speak on behalf of all the youngsters of the country but also take pride in the fact that I do work with a lot of young "college going" entreprenuers and inspired youngsters in bangalore..some are earning money by creating websites, some are trying to fed their expenses by working in coffeedays around the city, some are trying to make a mark by writing a book, some by starting a small event management company doing only BTL activities. Likewise, there are lots and lots of youngsters who have come from smaller towns and cities to a space like Bangalore and trying to make a mark for themselves.

This is another peek of the young India which is inspired enough to be the change they want to see.
And talking about taking wiser council from elders, maybe the elders ought to stop being so cynical and scekptical about the perspective that youngsters have about the present and the future.
Last word: Each generation has their own set of struggles. Making a passing comment on the youngsters of today not having their struggles I believe is too ignorant. maybe, we need to start looking at why some of them behave the way they do and try to guide and assist them rather than being cynical about them.

very nicely summarised by srinivasan.thats the generational gap today that's operating in the country and explains the attitude problem of the youth today. they havent struggled for anything. their parents have given them everything on a platter. but they are great at using technology and even innovating further , notwitstanding the mms and sms culture which has sharply degenerated english literature with absurd abbreviations and spellings.but the youth has a great future and it can mould the future of the country if they only care to take wiser counsel from their elders.best regards,tn ashok
