dear shri narasimha reddi garu and others

You have raised a very very pertinent topic in the group.

Presently, globally we consider twitter as the greatest short form of communication with 140 characters.  The whole world got excited over this short form of communication and we coined a new word 'tweet' for such short forms.

What many of us are not aware is that every Thirukkural has only 7 words, with 25 to 35 characters maximum. 'Kural' is the exact tamil meaning of Twitter.  Thiru (meaning Sri) was added to Kural, to make it Thirukural.   That means Thiruvalluvar was able to communicate at one-fourth of twitter permitted characters, that too without shortening the words.  (eg.now  for is being written as 4; to is written as 2 ).  Thirukkural was written two thousand years back.

Dr Abdul Kalam is fond of Thirukkural and wherever he goes and speaks, he picks up the concept and thread from Thirukkural.  Whenever, I take sessions on management or communication, i always quote from Thirukkural.

Even after sixty years of Independence, we always have a fancy of accepting the quotes from Europeans and other foreigners.  The concepts which are relevant for modern days were told by our Indian Gurus like Thiruvalluvar, Chanakya, Vidhura, Manu, Bhishma, Lord Krishna thousands of years back.

Probably, due to lack of proper interpretation by us, connecting the modern management principles, they are being ignored.  Time has come now that forums like this and experts explore the great management and communication principles from our ancient Gurus.

As suggested by Dr Reddi garu, I will pick up few Thirukkurals and explain them to suit modern day management.  I will work out and communicate in a day or two.

Thanks Reddi garu for your suggestion.  I also appeal to others who have knowledge in other great works of different Gurus like Chanakya can  contact me.  We can work out a good model to explore them.

In Mahabarata, Bhishma gives some advises to Yudhishtra lying on his arrow bed in the war field. I do not know Sanskrit.  I got it few of them explained through some scholars.  Though they contain the advises to a King, it is relevant for a CEO in a corporate of modern days.

If some one can explore, that will be a great handbook for youngsters.

Thirukkural is one of the books translated into many number of languages, probably next to Bible.  English translation is available in all leading book stores in all cities.

Please share your views.
