Re: [prpoint] Debate: Rs.1760000000000 - Loss to the Nation :(

Dear Mr. Srinivasan
Thanks for sharing the info. I am really surprised to note the whopping amount one / a bunch of proactive players have amassed in short duration. Though it is painful to note this kind of news and media hype created. Now people remember more A. Raja than what he has done/undone. Though this served the actual purpose of media in improving their TRP rating, we need to ponder few questions among PR comm / media and introspect our standing, roles and to answer to our soul, are we doing justice to our work.
* where was this media during last 2 years though this was brought to notice in 2008. Why media should be reactive and not proactive.
* what has happened to all those scams or corruption brought to light by either media or any other source.
* why cannot we have a media team to do R&D on such issues, tracks and keep everyone updated so that public does not wake up to read a news and forget after another spicy news. I am sympathetic with public, who in a competitive world has to scramble for time and news feed. Yesterday's Pamela and Rakhi Sawant reality show news s taking centre stage, being published in first page of TOI Delhi which has refused to even consider for editor any news on health, poverty, education through technology etc.,

A paradigm shift is required. None other than public can save their hard earned money, weed off corruption or atleast minimise it.

Regards

Kalyan

dear friends "Rs.1.76 lakh crores" is the figure that Indian people and media are now discussing day in and day out.  Now one of the Hon'ble (?) Ministers A Raja has resigned.  CAG has submitted his report to the nation, alleging an estimated loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crores to the nation, in the 'spectrum scam'.  Supreme Court has questioned the lethargy of Prime Minister in taking note of the scam.   It is a mind boggling figure that one cannot even imagine.  Probably, this is the mother of all scams in the independent India.  Though the estimated loss to the nation is around Rs.1.76 lakh crores, the corruption money involved is estimated to be around Rs.50 to 60 thousand crores.   Definitely, the Minister Raja alone would not have been the only beneficiary of this mega corruption.   There should be more and more partners.  The mere fact that our Hon'ble PM also did not want to take notice, even after a petition was sent to him way back in 2008, reveals many hidden stories.  There should be more and more beneficiaries of this scam. Besides politicians,  many corporates (known and unknown) might have been the beneficiaries.   Greedy corporates join hands with greedy politicians to rob  the nation for their personal gain.   Do we have a role as communication managers to prevent  such 'national robbery' and to create awareness about transparency in governance.   Srinivasan Prime Point Reply to sender | Reply to group | Reply via web post | Start a New Topic Messages in this topic (1) Recent Activity: Visit Your Group Please visit http://www.prpoint.com (for useful PR resource materials) and http://www.primepointfoundation.org (non profit trust for promotion of PR)and http://www.imageaudit.com (about Image Audit)and http://www.indiavision2020.org (on India Vision) MARKETPLACE Hobbies & Activities Zone: Find others who share your passions!
