Re: [prpoint] Debate: Rs.1760000000000 - Loss to the Nation :(

Here the PM is like Dhiritarashtra. Blinded by what - power to hold on to his position? Where is dharma here - coalition dharma or otherwise? Once a clerk he is always a clerk goes the saying and it can be said that `once a bureaucrat always a bureaucrat'.

My request to the group members- that includes media and others- is that never pass even a small comment that - so and so is honest and integrity cannot be suspected- without knowing in and out of a public figure.

Regards
Jagannathan

Dear Srinivasan:The debating points should be on how it has affected the reputation of the major ruling party and its leaders including the Congress president and the PM who is an icon of probity'
It is Dharmaraja of Mahabharata VS Adharma Raja (A.Raja).The former in Mahabharata became a spoectator when his wife was beign disrobed publicly, prevented Bheema from going to her defence. That was becasue he was following the Dharma of the game of dice in which he had wagered his wife and lost.
In this modern day Mahabharata,Dr Singh wrote a lettter 'advising his minister to follow the rules and his 'coalition Dharma ended there. But forgot the public duty to prevent looting of public money. As PM ones role does not end with a letter to a colleague.
He could have directed  for that no decision  should be taken without a GOM.
He could have asked for the files.
He could ahve directed the relebvant authorities not to release spectrum, without ref to PMO.
He could have asked the Cabinet Secy to keep a watch on developments.
He need not have agreed to post a very com[pliant IAS officer as Secretary Telecom'
PM has many eyes and ears to get info reg various ministries to know dayto day developments. They were not activated.Or ignored.
PMO and its officers were silent spectators.Normally they are not, except when instructed..
What was the difference between DOT Secretary Mathur, who now tells the media that he instructed the Joint Secretary not to refer the files to him, since the Minister Raja was not heeding his advice and PM who wrote a letter and absolved himselof of all responsibility?
None. Both behaved like bureaucrats seeking safety. They did not blow the whistle in time.Of course,Dr.Singh is an ex bureaucrat turned politician.
It is an irony that now Dr Singh's reputation is sullied, even while remaining personally honest.Lesson:Donot lend cover to the corrupt
Which one should be upheld-Coalition Dharma or Corruption Dharma?.
Dr S.Swamy and others are now saying that sucha huge loot would not have gone under, without it beign shared bya large number.

Last 3 big scams in a row has queered the pitch
Now the debate.

dear friends

"Rs.1.76 lakh crores" is the figure that Indian people and media are now discussing day in and day out.  Now one of the Hon'ble (?) Ministers A Raja has resigned.  CAG has submitted his report to the nation, alleging an estimated loss of Rs.1.76 lakh crores to the nation, in the 'spectrum scam'.  Supreme Court has questioned the lethargy of Prime Minister in taking note of the scam.

It is a mind boggling figure that one cannot even imagine.  Probably, this is the mother of all scams in the independent India.  Though the estimated loss to the nation is around Rs.1.76 lakh crores, the corruption money involved is estimated to be around Rs.50 to 60 thousand crores.

Definitely, the Minister Raja alone would not have been the only beneficiary of this mega corruption.   There should be more and more partners.  The mere fact that our Hon'ble PM also did not want to take notice, even after a petition was sent to him way back in 2008, reveals many hidden stories.  There should be more and more beneficiaries of this scam.

Besides politicians,  many corporates (known and unknown) might have been the beneficiaries.   Greedy corporates join hands with greedy politicians to rob  the nation for their personal gain.

Do we have a role as communication managers to prevent  such 'national robbery' and to create awareness about transparency in governance.
