Prime Point Foundation, every year honours the top performing Lok Sabha MPs, based on their participation in debates, raising questions, introduction of private members bills and attendance.
3rd Annual Awards function to honour the Lok Sabha MPs was held on Saturday the 14th April 2012 at Indian Institute of Technology-Madras. During this event, four MPs (1) Anandrao Adsul, Shiv Sena MP from Maharashtra, (2) Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, BJP MP from Maharashtra, (3) S S Ramasubbu, Cong MP from Tamilnadu and (4) Arjun Ram Meghwal, BJP MP from Rajasthan were honoured with Sansad Ratna 2012 Award for their outstanding performance in the Lok Sabha.
Mr Gopalkrishna Gandhi, Former Governor of West Bengal and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi presented the Awards. Mr Era Sezhiyan, a well known Parliamentarian and Dr Bhaskar Ramamurthy were the Chief Guests.
Jointly with Humanities and Social Science Dept. of IIT Madras, we also organised a National Seminar on Youth and Politics. Award winning MPs and new generation leaders, activists, journalists were in the panel.
Earlier, an exclusive message from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was also screened. I recorded his inspiring message on 10th April 2012, when he was at Chennai. In his message he has stressed the importance of 'inspiring action' to become role-models.
Mr Gopalkrishna Gandhi, in his very inspiring and poetic speech, appealed to the people not to slander the Parliament, which amounted to slandering ourselves.
