Re: [prpoint] Re: Alex Paul kidnap by Naxals - Lessons to be learnt

Dear All

There seems little degree of difference between Al-Khaida, Rajakars, Pindaris etc., vis-a-vis the 'Naxals'. In one word to sum up the Govt. has 'tragically' failed to control such activities which led to the extent of 'super black mailism' by these outfits. Where is the guarantee that in the coming days a Governor/Central Minister etc., are not taken hostage if Govt. does not take effective and strong measures as of now.

dear all,

my heart goes out to the family of the security personnel who died saving alex paul.
while i fully agree with srini that while some rejoice some weep, thats the paradox of llfe.
yes, when there is a writing on the wall that certain areas are unsafe and we have the
italian hostage crisis before us, it is indeed very indiscreet on the part of an matured
government functionary to travel in these areas in utter violation of security protocols
and staking not only ones own life but that also of others.

let govt servants observe security protocol strictly and not imitate our film heroes.
reel life is not real life.

yes, even today the nation is stunned and mourns the loss of a young dynamic leaders like rajiv gandhi
but remembers very little about the security personnel who were protecting him and perished. the irony of life.

the only way to meet terrorism is to meet with counter terrorism. is the nation and the people prepared for it
because some excesses here and there could lead to collateral damage which the critics could dub as
state sponsored terrorism. what is the option before the country.

should terrorism be met by counter terrorism? and should blackmailers bluffs be called off in the first instance
itself through calculated risks and sending a message that black mail against authorities will not work.
do our security forces have the teeth and technology to preempt terrorist strikes through better intelligence
gathering and better preparedness and ability and strength to call off bluffs. thats the million dollar question.

cheers
tn ashok
