Re: [prpoint] 50th Anniversary of India-China War (1962) - Jai Jawan

That memory hurts still. Am glad that the government is honouring those who laid down their lives. Our young won't get a sense of history if the current parent generation don't show respect for their forebears.

Anyway here's a question in this context to ponder.
Had USSR and USA not been engaged in the Cuban missile crisis that almost brought the world to a nuclear war 50 years ago this week, would the Chinese have started a war with India?
And would the outcome have been different if the USA (which was no friend of China then and, under a Kennedy presidency, was befriending India) and USSR (which was friendly with India and was having ideological problems with China) were not distracted thus from Asia?

Thanks Mr Srinivasan
