Why blame only Media ? Media just acts as a multiple mirror image of the happenings in the Society. Social media is fanning the fire !
Some want their presence to be felt, seen and talked about;
Some want to avenge the unsatiated grief by pelting stones on police;
Some want ratings;
Some want readership;
Some are instigated;
Some are indoctrinated;
Some are anti-social elements;
Some want to exhibit their solidarity; but
Several commoners like you and me want justice;
The sum total of Intentions, Motivations and Aspirations keep the protest 'On' till strong emotions & vehement passions are diluted or till an assurance is provided to the hetero-mob.
Coming to the heinous act of sexual assault - Rape, Molestation, Outraging the modesty of women by an individual or by a gang, as everybody wishes, I too wish, the proposed amendment to the criminal law shall be such that there is no escape to the accused with no scope for the accuser turning into accused.
Fool-proof legal frame work, quick legal process, sure & regorous punishment coupled with awareness among the people may curtail 'crime rate', ensure 'proper reporting' and improve 'conviction rate'.
Regards,
All the rape accused in the Delhi gang rape have been caught and are cooling their heels in police lock-up. Government is setting up a fast track court. Even the Delhi High Court has intervened. Everybody wants justice to be done fast and the Home Secretary even assured this is a shut case with overwhelming evidence against the culprits for whom the strictest punishment will be sought.
Now, it is amazing to see continued protests with the media also raising chorus: Where is my India and so on…Media continuously showing youngsters screaming for justice and saying nothing is happening on the rapists front which is totally wrong since the accused were produced in the court.
Instead of asking the people to allow the authorities to complete the legal process, why should media telecast screams for instant justice?
My question is not Where is My India – My question is where the self restraint that the media is supposed to have?
Kiran Bedi says the youth wants to be heard! She wants the Home Minister, CM and Governor to come Ramlila to listen to protesters. Will she ensure peaceful demonstration?
Police relaxed ban orders to allow peaceful protests and now some of the crowds trying to break barriers and some more pelting stones.
Further, apart from student unions, even trade unions and political parties are joining the protests.
Thus, the entire process of protests becomes meaningless as it is getting politicized. Sonia Gandhi spoke, Rahul met protesters. Now, what do the agitators want?
Soon, the protest will turn into a law and order issue. Protesters have begun to burn the material brought or Republic Day parade.
Should this kind of politicization and hijacking of student protest be allowed?
On the top of it all, BJP ridiculously holds demonstration at the Emergency Entrance of Safdarjung Hospital, ignoring doctors' please to leave the area free for ambulance movement.
Please recall that Mahatma Gandhi called off his Satyagraha when the freedom struggle turned violent.
I appeal to forum members to share their thoughts and instill a sense of responsibility among all – Sab Ko Sanmati De Bhagwan!
