Re: [prpoint] Re: What is happening at Delhi? Democracy to Mobocracy? Is there any hidden agenda?

Friends: When left front govt came to power in West Bengal, it was usual for minsters to take to  the streets to protest against the Center. While I agree that government ministers should get out of poll campaign mode and start governing, Delhi Government;s grievance reg not having control over municipalities,Delhi police,DDA is long  standing and genuine.Sushma Swaraj as Delhi CM,Shiela Dixit had  also tried in vain to wrest control of these vital instruments of governance from the Union Govt.
When a rape   or a serious crime or terrorist attack takes palce, people tend to blame the local govt. They donot distinguish between the center and the NCT govt.In peoples perception the local govt is responsible.
Those of you not living in Delhi donot know that all kinds of hotels have mushroomed in  Paharganj,Karol bagh and many places, which rent rooms by the hour,Invariably they have  mafia/political/police  patronage and thrive. It is a fact that India has been very slack in allowing foreigners to stay even after the expiry of their visa in India, especially Delhi.Reports of Women from ex Soviet republics and from Africa arriving in Delhi and making money by offering sex services have been ignored by the Home Ministry. You just have to see some of the  massage parlour newspaper advertisements the extent of this racket.Selling  of drugs by foreigners is a common sight in Connaught place,Paharganj,Amar Colony.
MEA often prevents any action against foreigners in the  name of diplomatic  relations. When the Home ministry wanted to crack donw on illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, MEA came in the way.
Goa has become a den of foreign drug peddlers, sex service sellers. When the Goa govt wanted action against huge number of Africans staying without  Visa
MEA came in the way. I have served in the Union Home ministry and been a witness to the way it tries to squeeze Delhi govt, it it happens to be from an opposition party.
When the Union Govt is intent on ensuring a state govt, especially a non Congress govt in Delhi, where most powers and resources are controlled by the Union Govt, where do you go,other  than to the streets?
I am not a AAP party supporter.  I also agree that street protest should be the last resort, after petitions, meetings with the center, and other means. The grievance of AAP govt is genuine, but the means and timing are wrong

Delhi police comes under the Union Home Ministry. So the responsibility for Delhi security comes under the central government.

Dear Srini

Very well said.  I have been thinking on these lines, right from the morning, when the news about AAP leaders and the CM sitting on dharna started coming.  Four metro rail stations have been closed for a few hours.  Sec 144 has been clamped.  Is he a CM who is supposed to govern and rule or just an irresponsible local guy?  Still the activist in Kejriwal is very active or he has simply not matured?  Otherwise, people suspect that he is playing into the hands of some anti-social or perhaps anti-national elements to disrupt the national unity and create havoc.

hi

Sitting at the far end of the nation, we are totally confused over the happenings at Delhi.  Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and his team have forgotten that they are governing Delhi UT sitting in the Secretariat. Instead, they behave like activists and NGOs?

I understand from the TV channels that whole Delhi has become stand still.  Generally, one month prior to the Republic Day, the whole Delhi used to be sensitised and the security authorities used to have a complete control and watch over the entire city.

The irresponsible and kiddish acts of the AAP team is throwing the entire Delhi out of security and creates a 'dangerous' security risk to the nation, particularly when the terrorists are targeting our nation. The attention of the security agencies are taken away from the normal functions.    Are they playing into the hands of some enemy countries to create such confusion in the Capital just few days before the Republic Day Celebrations?

In addition, Delhi CM just now appeals to all Policemen to quit and join AAP.  What is happening at Delhi now?  Is it the new type of politics that they are playing?  It amounts to 'sedition' and they can be even prosecuted for such irresponsible statements.  The Law Minister of Delhi  goes round the city taking law into his hands.

More than anything else, the national media is also behaving in an irresponsible manner, ignoring the  security of the nation. I feel that many patriotic young boys and girls of this nation are being fooled by these people.   Even BJP and Congress have not commented on the 'security risk' created by the Chief Minister of Delhi  and his team in the Capital.

Is there any hidden agenda behind such irresponsible drama of AAP? It has to be investigated.
