Please be informed that Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU), for the first time, has introduced new combined Post Graduate professional course in Mass Communication, Public Relations and Journalism from the current academic year.
The Admission into this program is open to all Bachelor's Degree holders in any discipline. Preference will be given to those who obtained BPR degree from this University. Admission prospectus is available in the University portal and at all PG study centers free of cost in the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
A unique feature of this innovative program is that five core subjects applicable to both Public Relations and Journalism including Mass Communication are offered in the first year, while specialized courses of Public Relations and Journalism will be introduced in the second year. However, Public Relations subject will be offered in 2015-16 and Journalism in 2016-17. The students who opt Public Relations as a specialized subject will be awarded with the degree as M.A in Mass Communication and Public Relations, while the students who opt Journalism as specialized subject will be given the degree of M.A in Mass Communication and Journalism. The medium of instructions will be in English.
Being a job oriented program, Mass Communication, Public Relations and Journalism will have ample career opportunities in Government, Public Sector, Corporate Sector, NGOs, Print and Electronic Media, New Media, Advertising, Event Management etc.

Admission and Eligibility Criteria: M.A Mass Communication & Public Relations
Admission into two year Post Graduate Programme in M.A (Mass Communication and Public Relations) is open to all the citizens of India who hold a Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from an Indian University which is recognized by the U.G.C and is a member of Association of Indian Universities. Preference will be given to those who obtained BPR degree from this University and also with Mass Communication and Public Relations as one of the Optional subjects at U.G level in this University. Admission will be made on the basis of merit at the qualifying examination. The medium of instruction is English.
M.A (Mass Communication & Public Relations)
The students of M.A in Mass Communication and Public Relations will have study the following five courses in the First year.
Course- 1 : Theory of Principles of Communication, Journalism and Public Relations
Course- 2 : Introduction to Mass Media and Global Communication
Course- 3 : Information Technology and New Media
Course- 4 : Communication Research
Course- 5 : Writing, Reporting and Editing for Mass Media
In the Second Year, the Student has to study the following five courses.
Course- 6 : Media Strategy and Methods for Public Relations Practice
Course- 7 : Editing and Production of Corporate Publications
Course- 8 : Public Relations Management in Government, Corporate Sector and NGOs.
Course- 9 : Theory and Practice of Advertising
Course- 10 : Internship and Project Report.
