Re: [prpoint] Ayesha vs (Shoaib Malik + Sania) = Page 3 to Page 1

We normally (yes normally) wash the clothes in which we sleep. But here are some who preserve them for years!!

Hi,

The issue has all the ingredients to make it interesting. Two international sports stars set to get married. Both belonging to countries that had fought two battles and doing shadow boxing for several years. One is facing googlies and the other is wondering whether it is going to be a double fault. And there is a marriage contract with another woman. So it is natural for the issue to come to the front page.

I agree with Arun that it need not be discussed if people think the issue does not deserve coverage.

Dear fellow prpoint members,

If we feel this issue does not deserve such coverage - then we can contribute our bit by stop reacting to this - and thus avoid giving it more publicity - even in our own forum.

Name of the game is bylines and increasing TRPs for the  respective media houses. Breaking news on common man does not help the media to increase their TRP ratings, whereas anything on a celebrity does.

better TRP means better revenues for the the channel and that's their sole reaosn for existence. Current generation of journalists/ channels have nothing called ethics and whatever else you may call them as....

Thanks and Regards

dear friends

Sania Mirza wedding episode has become the lead story for the past one week in all the TV channels.  A Page 3 news has been pushed to Page 1.  Unfortunately, the killing of security forces by Naxals has been relegated to the back yard.   Media does not have space or channel time to salute and honour the great soldiers who gave their life for the Nation and to mobilize the public opinion to combat terrorism.

Even though Ayisha - Shoaib - Sania drama has ended happily, many questions remain unanswered.  The 'so called celebrities' like Shoab can cheat and tell lies to any extent in the media, and can still remain as the 'most admired personalities' .  Even after Shoaib has signed the divorce papers, media continues to follow the story with great admiration for his 'suppression of truth'.   Probably some awards also will be given shortly.

I do not know what is happening in our media industry.   I am yet to understand as to  how our Indian  media have resolved the problems faced by the common men, by chasing these  celebrities and pushing the news to  front page or prime time.
