Re: [prpoint] Debate: Avoiding news agencies for press conference

There is a method by which  media or publications access information to be put up on their publications and there being so many feature and other editors for one single publication that each one of them is trying to outdo the other by accessing the information. This leads to a newswire service broadcasting the news through the internet @ the speed of thought.Though this is superior in reach it lacks quality of content compared to the person from the publication undertstanding and putting a spin by asking the right query on domain knowledge of covering the sector and also there is no sameness in the news. The comapny also likes to build a relationship with the reporter to assist him to understand his industry space/domain.
Newswire is like ATM but then cos want some OTC personal touch put a face to the name .So newswire is ok for sending news to far flung areas while the person is good for your core market(geography).

This must be influencing the cos in choice of invitation to a news conference. This in no way demeans the journos who are equal its only the technology and relationship with it that influences the decision of choice.
