PR In Govt/ Public Sector OrganizationsAt the Crossroads and Time for a RethinkWith increased presence of multinational clients, their rising media demands, and, en suite their agencies, as well as opening up of electronic media, have necessitated a totally new learning curve, which has rendered years of accumulated experience and wisdom obsolete.
When in this case a paradigm shift occurs, an industry is thrust into the uncomfortable position of arriving at crucial crossroad. Turn left, and you instantly move into hell on the monopoly board. Or, think, reflect, adapt to change, take a deep breath and take the road to right and chances are you succeed brilliantly.
Most Public/ Govt sector organizations limit creative opportunities because they are only looking to force their work on us without proper understanding and knowledge about their media needs and wants. Instead of hiding behind that illusive curtain, it is time they should embrace new changes which calls for ideas to come from anywhere. This new horizon needs change Managers and not just Merchants of sudden wealth. The significant problem/issues we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at when we created them.
No doubt they must have accumulated experience at various managerial levels, willing to embrace new realities, with sense of vision and that no one takes your views with offense, because that is not the objective.Moushmi KishoreFreelance PR Consultant, Chennai9345225242
