Re: [prpoint] Global Financial Crisis and PR

Dear Sri Mudnaney,
Which bank tried to protect itself?

Dear All,

Recently we have seen a unprecedented global financial crisis . Some of it has even been felt in the Indian markets . Particularly one of our leading banks has felt the heat rightly or wrongly. As a proactive approach the concerned bank did an aggressive PR by appearing on all television channels and speaking to all the publications .

Did this approach help ? or did it fan the fears as to why is this one bank going out of its way to communicate that there is no problem ?  if the stock market reaction is to be looked at today the stock may once again test the 52 week lows ! yet if they had not communicated maybe there could be worse reactions .

As a PR community what would be our advice to institutions caught in the crossfire of global financial crisis – does one need to proactively communicate or let the dust settle an stay out of the line of fire ?

Warm Regards,

Sanjay Mudnaney
