Really sad. In fact, Tiffins is our regular meeting point for us for arranging bridge building meetings between clients and the media. We shake in horror when we recollect the mindless way in which the terrorists sprayed bullets on the guests having dinner there.
I myself left the Press Club, Mumbai, on the 26th barely half an hour before the attack along with my friend Partho of Business India. The Club gates were ordered to be shut by the Azad Maidan police (opp the Club) and many journalists locked themselves during the night of terror and tension till early morning on 27th. Among them is our guest from Chennai - Muthu Kumar, Editor of Trinity Mirror. (Moderator's Note : Muthukumar is a member of prpoint group)
Worse is the experience of Raghu Mohan (Editor-Banking @ Business World) who was witness to the horrifying blast in a taxi at Vile Parle. I was talking to him enquiring about his welfare as he too left the Club around nine PM or so. He said: "wait, here is a blast". He was in another cab right behind!! He quickly composed himself, walked home and then an hour later when we spoke to him over the phone he was still in a state of shock.
Well, now that the nightmare is behind us, we the masscom professionals should contribute our mite to rebuild Mumbai - the greatest City in the World.
Much of the horror has happened due to communication failure. Lets communicate with the fine art of relationship building which is our profession.
