Seminar on "Spirituality and Ethics in Corporate Governance"
1st Feb, 2009 at Brahma Kumaris' Yog Bhawan Spiritual Retreat
Centre, Mysore
Global Forum for Public Relations and Public Relations Council of
India jointly held a seminar on "Spirituality and Ethics in
Corporate Governance" hosted by Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual
University at Yog Bhawan Spiritual Retreat Centre, Mysore.
The Guest of Honour, Sri MB Jayaram, National President PRCI, spoke
on the importance of values in Public Relations, a field so powerful
and important. He also mentioned that values breed from strong
spiritual foundation and that he is happy to associate himself with
Brahma Kumaris, an organization that is working strongly in
educating the world about the power and knowledge of values.
In his Keynote Address, Dr CV Narasimha Reddi, Former Director-
Information & Public Relations & Editor- Public Relations Voice,
said that the most dangerous ailment in the nation today is
corruption and that some 26,000 crores of rupees go in bribing. The
selected theme "Spirituality and Ethics in Corporate Governance"
is more apt in today's context and that the President of India is
also strongly advocating the ethical balance in corporate set up.
He also said that the basis for ethics is spirituality and that Mr
Ramalinga Raju who was imprisoned after the unethical corporate scam
of his company Satyam Computers, is spending most of his time now in
reading spiritual literature. He also added that the Founder of
Brahma Kumaris lived great principles and high values which one
needs to cultivate in ones life. He said that he is a charged person
after coming in contact with Brahma Kumaris and expects this
positive change from all the professionals to make stressful and
task oriented lives easy and light.
BK Karuna Ji, Chief of Broadcasting and PR-Brahma Kumaris Worldwide,
said that one needs to develop inner spiritual strength to cope up
with the increasing challenges of the moving world. He has quoted
one example, lauded most by the audience, that we have become so
busy constantly engaging our mind and energy in communicating on the
mobile phone that when God wants to call us we are always engaged
BK Sis Laxmi Ji, Director, Yog Bhawan Spiritual Retreat Centre said
that people are searching so much to find solutions to present day
problems, but the only answer for every challenge, pain and
suffering is practical spirituality.
Y Babji, Vice President-GFPR, said that GFPR is a forum which is
playing a supportive and friendly role with all the other
professional bodies like PRSI, PRCI, ABCI etc. Since GFPR is
affiliated to a spiritual organisation which has high order
international reputation has attained prominent position in Public
Relations profession because it goes hand in hand with other
professional organisations.
The main objective of this forum is to give spiritual solutions to
professional problems.
BK Sis Sharada, Incharge Mandya Branch of Brahma Kumaris has given a
Guided Meditation Experience to the participants.
Bro BK Ramachandra Rao, Senior Manager, Triveni Group, Mysore has
proposed vote of thanks.
Among other dignitaries who extended active support in organising
and making the Seminar a success were Sis Fatima Shujauddin, Deputy
Director, Youth Services, Govt. of AP, Sis Mona Elizabeth Kurein,
Manager, Reserve Bank and MS Sapna, Dean Dept. of Studies,
Journalism and Mass Communication, Mysore University .
BK Heena, Mumbai coordinated the Inaugural Session and Mona
Elizabeth Kurien, Hyderabad coordinated the Technical Session.
The seminar was attended by various Public Relations and Corporate
Communications professionals from Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mysore.
