dear friends

Last week, we had discussion about the arrest of Mr B Lenin, News Editor of Dinamalar paper.   Dinamalar paper had carried some news report about few leading tamil actresses, based on the information furnished by an actress who was arrested by the Police for alleged prostitution.  Next day, Dinamalar apologised in the paper, if the report had hurt any feelings.

Meanwhile, South Indian Actors Association met the Commissioner of Police at Chennai and submitted a complaint against the paper.  In a knee-jerk reaction, the Police officers went to Dinamalar office in plain dress and without warrant and arrested mr Lenin, the News Editor.

Before that Film actors convened a meeting to protest against the news report of the paper.  During that meeting, few prominent actors abused the journalists and their family members  in derogatory, vulgar language.  They also met the Chief Minister of Taminadu to thank him for arresting News Editor.

The speeches of the film actors angered the journalists and they also demonstrated in the streets.  Their demonstration got the coverage in National Media also.  They submitted a memorandum to the Police Commissioner to arrest the actors who were using vulgur languages.

I have also seen the DVC of those speeches.  It is horrible o look at the actors and actresses during freely the abusive languages.  If they were to be part of a cinema, they would have been removed by Censor Board.

Please listen to the podcast on this incident in the following link:

The Police Commissioner is yet to take any action on the complaint filed by the journalists Associations.  The journalists groups have moved Honble Chennai High Court for direction to Police.  At the request of Police side, the Court has adjourned the case till 19th October.
