Hi All,
Though one has the freedom to take one's own decisions in life, there are certaion tangible and intangible courtesies thta are expected , especially at senior levels. We get so worked up when juniors do this to us, but when very senior people do this , it is unpardonable. The character , moral and ethical nature , temperament, confidence , etc etc all come to the fore , negatively.
Have been working for 38 years now , pan India and am in touch even with my first employer.
Maybe we all belong to a bygone era. But the ethos and culture , and the respect and relationships that I still enjoy with all colleagues past and present, go to show the school we all belong to. Cheers to us.

Great people and great place to live, which I still miss a lot.

Then I joined a small group of hotels and worked for three years. I got another offer and I decided to quit the hotel. I informed the management of the hotel well in advance and requested to relieve me in one month. I completed all the work and it was a very graceful exit. Even today, I speak to my MD, ED and GM and they too keep in touch me.

It is very important to be highly professional and ethical in your work to be recognised for long time even if you leave the organisation.
