About Jyotsna:
Jyotsna Srikanth is the most sought after South-Indian classical carnatic violinist and composer known for her versatility and ability to collaborate with different genres seamlessly and with ease. She is intensely rooted in south Indian classical music alongside having formal western classical music education.
Adding on to this, she has flourished as a performer and composer, exploring lush ground in the crossover between Indian music and a variety of contemporary flavours. Her violin playing has a nice blend of 'bhava' [musical expression and emotion] & fingering technique, a result of three 'decades of experimentation' as per a critic.
Dr. Srikanth is featured in many major global music events and venues like WOMAD - UK, Red Violin Festival – Wales, BBC Proms, The Music Academy - Chennai. She was conferred the Fellowship in Carnatic music from the Trinity College of Music, London.
She had the privilege of performing for the British Prime Minister, David Cameron.
She is at present collaborating with the popular flamenco guitarist Eduardo Niebla, Portuguese singer Vitorino, Fado flautist Rao Kyao, Bob Atchison Disney Lion King Musical principal violinist & conductor.
Having played violin for nearly 200 Indian films under music directors like Ilaiyaraja, she is currently working on numerous large scale music experiments including string orchestral works – in a way bringing communities together. Being a medical doctor with a post-graduation didn't stop her from being an all-out professional musician.
She is the Artistic Director of Dhruv Arts (www.dhruvarts.org) and the curator of London International Arts festival (www.liaf.co.uk)
