RE: [prpoint] How to make Government PR Departments more effective?

It is required to look at PR in a broader perspective. It would certainly help. I have read few articles in selective magazines that cover the govt. sector at large. But yes, they are in niche areas & target to a very selective kind of audience. Infact, I would like to quote the example of ACP Rajan Bhagat, PRO Delhi Police. The way he has been handling the entire crisis is really commendable. Being in a govt. set up where very stringent rules & regulations are followed he's really been successful in communicating the key facts & findings.

The only difference that makes the private players visible is how they communicate - may be in media or to the public. Brand building campaigns, Press briefings etc. certainly help. Would suggest have some good PR & advertising partners who can help you frame out good strategies to develop the brand & communicate effectively.

Dear Mr. Dewangan,

You raised a very valid point, I’m yet to see laurels  about good work of government much in media. More that we see is debate on “What has Not Been Done”…. !!

** I think a more aggressive, prompt and timely flow information to key media from your end would somehow assist in fetching more recognition to such work.

** In Local constituency budgets under MPLAD scheme, some budgets can be allocated towards association with key media groups on special supplements on

      Local Projects Completed.

** Identification, development, training of a Key Spokesperson from the Govt. PR team or the project team and positioning of this person’s views and

thoughts in various related issues/stories in key media would be an added advantage.

These few strategies would help in mounting the faith of key media in your good work which in turn when spoken by media would fetch due recognition in the eyes of Public too. . .
